We stand with Ukraine?
When it comes to the prospect of war, is anyone really safe? This question worries me, for I am a citizen of what could soon be a country at war with its own population. As small business owners in Tyson Gill Inspired Furniture LLC, we often do not comment on international affairs or geopolitics - but when it comes to the possibility of another global crisis that could destroy millions of lives and businesses alike, our silence speaks volumes.
We Stand With The Brave Ukrainian People 🇺🇦
Is the war in Ukraine worth it? What will happen if the armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine ends up being a global war? That's what we're all asking ourselves now. Why did NATO refuse to deploy troops in Eastern Europe even after Russian troops were found crossing the Ukrainian border? The next round of criticism goes at how America stayed neutral instead of defending allies that share economic interests, military contributions and common values with them.
Russia has a lot of heavy imports but what they export is still well sought after by Europe. They've recently enforced trade sanctions and higher gas prices are coming across the continent. With Russia starting to lower back on exporting items due to the impending cold season they haven't faced yet, it's only natural that other countries in Europe will have fuel shortages or sudden surges in price which may be much higher than last time around. This affects everyone; even those who don't normally consume gasoline because prices for imported goods will sky rocket as well so this global economic crisis also has many casualties other than human life itself.
In this day and age when we all know about World War II, it's easy to forget how it actually began. But from my interest in war films and documentaries, I found out some things that weren't covered in the History books. Take for example Japan; who would've guessed they were one of America's best friends? In the East there was nowhere else for them to go so instead they sought refuge in taking over countries around them using the excuse that they were just trying to do what they needed. They attacked China which is another country America has been helping out lately along with many other resources available at their disposal when Pearl Harbor happened and they turned towards their old friend, America - but only after they found out America had plans of joining WW2 once Russia joined in too.
As Americans, we need to draw lessons from history and share what we've learned. Otherwise, we'll eventually find ourselves embroiled in another war - just like before. America is lending their support for Ukraine through financial assistance and military equipment. NATO has been mobilizing troops along the eastern front lines with Russia. Recently, Putin threatened any countries who interfere with Russia's nuclear capabilities; including NATO member states imposing sanctions against Russia. The intention of these sanctions was to cause inflation within Russia while causing financial harm to it's people who have lived under Communism all this time. If you're worried now then you need to be more proactive about this sort of thing because it seems as though history might repeat itself again soon enough
When President Putin made his move to take over Ukraine, I listened intently. There were plenty of solutions other than violence for the issue at hand- surely? His first reason for invading: Ukrainian membership in NATO- understandable given Russia's history with them. Second, We will take military action only when absolutely necessary...only as part of a peacekeeping mission. Third, Russia has no interest whatsoever in crossing Ukrainian borders. Oh wait; except when it does, according to the next point. Fourth: The new government is illegitimate and includes many Nazis. Last time I checked the Ukrainians voted democratically; but that didn't stop Russia from calling them Nazis.
Petro Poroshenko, a former Ukrainian president has pledged his support for the protection of the country. In an interview with CNN, he vows to continue fighting even after relinquishing power. His interview was inspiring and beautiful. What I appreciate most is how he agrees with the current President despite being out of office. This shows that politicians are capable of supporting one another no matter what their opinions are - it will make you rethink American politics altogether!
Spartacus - President Volodymyr Zelemsky
Watch this video of President Volodymyr Zalenskyy, who looks so powerful and strong even in the chaotic streets of Kyiv. He is fighting for his people - or at least he feels like he has been fighting all these days when everyone around him had given up on him. It's hard to keep holding on after feeling betrayed by nations who you thought were friends- but it takes a real leader to stand up when there are few left standing anymore.
