March is Women's History Month, a time to reflect on the achievements of women throughout history. • The Origins of Women’s History Month

  The origin of Women’s History Month dates back to the early 1980s. In 1981, the US Congress passed a resolution declaring the week of March 8th as “Women’s History Week”. This was done to recognize and celebrate the many accomplishments of women throughout history. In 1987, Congress officially declared March as “Women’s History Month”.

  The first Women’s History Month was celebrated in 1982, with the theme “Women’s Right Are Human Rights”. Every year since then, a different theme has been chosen to honor the accomplishments of women in the past and present.

The Pioneers

We can look to the past for examples of courageous women who made history. From the suffragettes who fought for the right to vote to the civil rights activists who marched for equality, these women showed immense strength and bravery in their fight for justice.
